Chase 'beast' was a black panther says driver
Aug 5 2010 Kevin Edge

A care worker this week described her brush with the Beast of Cannock Chase as a 'once in a lifetime' experience.
And Pat Williams is absolutely certain the graceful animal that crossed in front of her car near the German Cemetery - a hot-spot for beast-watchers - was a black panther.
The 57-year-old's close encounter is just one of a number of big cat sightings during July.
Pat came across the animal at 8.25pm on Thursday, July 15, as she was driving home through the Chase.
She said: "There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind. It was a black panther - the tail was down and curled at the bottom.
"No way will anyone convince me it was a household cat. The way it ran was so majestic.
"It was 15 yards away from the car. I was gobsmacked. Seeing something like that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Yet again another sighting as we go into the summer and the deer move towards the edges of the chase rather then staying in the protected centres!
