The bulk of humanity's military is made up from the Imperial Guard (The Army I collect) and the Space Marines (giant, genetically-enhanced super-soldiers with world-destroying firepower and unswerving, fanatical loyalty to the Emperor of Mankind). The Emperor founder the Space Marines, and their leaders the Primarchs, for use in "The Great Crusade," a two-century effort to re-unite the farflung colonies of humanity following a dark age known as the "Age of Strife". It is during "The Great Crusade", that some of the Primarchs gave their devotion to the Ruinous Powers, becoming the Chaos Space Marines. Starting another conflict within humanity known as "The Horus Heresy" named after the Primarch who led the attack. During this war the Emperor was wounded and left dying. He was then entombed into a comprehensive life-support machine, called "The Golden Throne", the sustains his body as he uses his psychic powers to combat the Gods of Chaos.

I started collecting models back when I was at high school, at that time I had a very small "squat" army if anyone remembers those figures, but upon leaving school and starting work I lost interest in collecting the figures. I started to collect the figures again back in 2006 but due to the pressures of live I have been unable to get very far. Hopefully as things are settling down for me I can get some serious work done on my models. I have purchased both new models and some second hand ones from Ebay, I have been very lucky with my second hand models as some are painted really good and are almost the right colour to my paint scheme that they blend in. It is the Imperial Guard that I have embarked upon collecting.
The above picture is an overview of my Imperial Guard Catachan Army Platoon.
As things stand at the moment I am more interested in learning how to make good models and paint them correctly rather then actually playing the game. I spend a lot of time playing the computer version (Dawn Of War) so for me its better to learn to model correctly! I do have a plan in mind of how I want my army to look like and what models I want, its just getting around to it!
